To process your order correctly, we usually need the following measurements: bust circumference, waist circumference, hip circumference, and height. Below, we provide a simplified guide on how to measure yourself correctly.
Step 1: Preparation for measurements
For taking your body measurements you are going to need a tailor's tape measure. You can get one in a notions store. It's best if someone assists you with the measurements, but if you want to do it by yourself, a mirror can be helpful. With it, you'll find it easier to check if you're measuring the right places of your body. Stand straight and breathe comfortably while measuring. The tape measure should not press tightly against your body; it should pass through each circumference relatively freely. Make sure not to measure the circumference diagonally; the tape measure must be in a parallel position relative to the floor. It's best to measure while wearing only underwear.
Step 2: Measuring the chest circumference
Place the tape measure under your armpits at the level of your chest, at the widest point, and measure the circumference.
Step 3: Measuring the waist circumference
Stand up straight and comfortably, without pulling in your belly. Place the tape measure at the narrowest point of your torso, which is usually just above the navel.
Step 4: Measuring the hip circumference
Measure the hip circumference at the widest point of your buttocks (hip circumference is not the same as hip bone circumference). It's important to find the actual widest circumference - giving us a smaller measurement might cause your costume to be too tight.
Step 5: Compare the results with the size chart (for the simplified size chart with sizes from 0 to 22 for women and 34-56 for men).
Now that you have all the measurements, compare them with the size chart available on the product page in our online store. Choose the size that best matches your measurements.
- If your measurement is at the upper limit of a size, and you prefer looser-fitting clothes, you can choose the next (bigger) size from the chart.
- If you are ordering a garment for which we need all three measurements, and your chest and hips qualify for different sizes, you can write us a note in the order comments or send detailed information to contact@wastedcouture.net, including your order number and your name.
- If you have any doubts or need assistance, please contact our customer service team; we will be happy to help.
Remember that measurement accuracy is crucial, so strive to be as precise as possible when taking your measurements. Now you are ready to make purchases in our online store, confident that you are choosing the right size for yourself.
