Wasted Couture in the European capital of the film industry

We had the amazing opportunity to participate in MIPTV, an event organised in the European capital of the film industry – Cannes, France.

These were powerful trade fairs, full of networking opportunities, valuable conversations and meetings with people working in the industry. For the first time in our lives, we participated in speed matchmaking events several times, and they were just splendid.

The trade fair was full of various events such as the First Timer Presentation, which included a guided tour, and the Opening Cocktail hosted by Paramount Pictures. We gave an interview to the amazing Romina Rodriguez from Señal News, who influenced us with her positive energy. We have attended some amazing discussion panels and even one screening of a post-apocalyptic movie “Offworld”. But the most important thing from the whole event is we’re making new FRIENDS! We had the pleasure of meeting a few producers and directors who left a lasting impression on us.

We also attended the United Nations award ceremony, honoring the producer/director Jonnie Hughes for his outstanding contributions towards the UN’s Sventeen Sustainable Development Goals. It was an incredible experience being a part of such a significant event.

The icing on the cake was a delightful cocktail party hosted by the TVP booth. It gave us the opportunity to meet even more fascinating people, in a phenomenal atmosphere.

One of the highlights of our trip to Cannes was attending a lecture by Sarah Wright, where she shared some valuable tips on how to thrive and survive in the film & TV industry. She also touched on the importance of networking and how to best use it for your business’ benefit.

Another notable experience was joining a 60-minute mentoring session led by Dixi Stewart, Managing Director of Sandstone Global. It was a great opportunity to connect with participants from all over the world and gain insight into female-led productions. We also discussed the importance of creating opportunities for women in the industry and how it can benefit thanks to their input. What made this session even more valuable was getting to know the perspectives of ladies from different countries and how they approach running a business in the modern world. This exceptionally revealing experience will certainly stay with us for a long time.

In the course of the entire trade fair, we met many people from the industry, including producers and directors, who made a strong impression on us. However, the most important thing in the whole event is the new FRIENDSHIPS we've made! We can't wait to visit Cannes again.

Our participation in this event was possible thanks to co-financing from the European Regional Development Fund, obtained through the Polish Agency for Enterprise Development (PARP).
