What are post-apocalyptic styles? 2
What are post-apocalyptic styles?

Howdy! Along with the improved site, we offer something else - our own blog! Here we will write about everything related to the post-apocalypse. We know that you are fans of big atomic explosions, sunburnt wastelands or worlds full of zombies. We take you on a dystopian rollercoaster, here you will experience a little bit of everything. So we strongly encourage you to read :)

Today we will touch on the subject of the various worlds presented by visions of the apocalypse. After all, this is a vast topic, from movies, comic books, through games and books. The symbolism carried by the annihilation of the world is connected with the constant hope, for a better tomorrow and the awareness of how fragile human life is.

One can talk endlessly about the apocalypse!

Through the pandemic, biting zombies, all the way to the destroyed wasteland and the geiger counter on your wrist. There are many reasons for the end of the world, even more different visions of existence on Earth after the annihilation itself.

Imagine this:

Monday. Your alarm clock, with its last wisps of life, tries to let you know that a new week has begun. But instead of getting up and getting ready for a monotonous job somewhere in the suburbs of the city - you have to do nothing. Literally, nothing. The world, gone into oblivion....

Everything you knew ceased to exist. The city, with narrow streets and buildings rising higher and higher, has turned into a pile of rubble and stones. You're lucky that the lower parts of the block still provide protection from the outside world as much as possible. Four walls separate you from misery and despair.

What in the apocalypse touches you the most?

Is it the chill of an atomic winter, like in Metro 2033? A world where mutated nature tries to bite back the harm done to it, impatiently waiting for all that is hers to come back to her again?

Hiding in the endless tunnels of the subway, one forgets one's previous life. One forgets that one once lived. And was doing well.

Actually, this is one of the biggest problems of a human being. He creates thousands of years of history, only to, as a result of an ill-considered decision, destroy it in a few seconds and forget it... In such a case, of course, it would be good to transfer the knowledge to paper, to hide it for future generations. However, how to protect something as fragile as a piece of paper?

The Book of Eli can give you some motivation to do so. The main character believed that with the last copy of the Bible, the world could get back on track, so he defended it from the wonders of the wilderness.

But after all, even with the Bible, man is capable of destroying the world.

Memory and hope

Despite the tremendous hardships that must be faced day in and day out in the wilderness, somewhere inside the soul still burns a spark of hope. After all, without faith, we would not get very far. Without dreams of a better tomorrow. Of dry land. Waterworld shows how strong such faith can be. How deeply ingrained in us is the desire to bond.

They say that thoughts shape reality.

What to think about when experiencing the very end of the world?

The walkers are among us!

On the other hand, suppose it's not our fault. Evolution has found its own path, with new strains of bacteria or viruses effectively throwing the human world into chaos.

Delving into The Walking Dead, where the end of a person's life is simply another chapter, and the line between the hereafter and mortals gets unpleasantly thin, and yet still one of your concerns remains: other people.

Do we already have it in our genes to be a danger to each other instead of a refuge?

Man versus

Nature The largest organism in the world spreads about 6 kilometers. The sensitive network of mycelium sends signals to every, even the smallest piece. For nearly two thousand years, it has been growing, developing and feeling. Fungi are able to survive even the vacuum of space. No wonder, then, that they can easily defeat us, as we find out in The Last of Us.

But after all, it's just a pure, equal fight for survival between two species. Actually, at such moments we should join forces, yet we’re still going for each other's throats.

Does evil and good cease to exist?

In the wasteland you will face difficult decisions, often on which your life, or the life of the group, will depend. What moral values you take with you into the wasteland will determine your fate. Remember one thing: Every decision you make can have serious consequences. This is a world in which you have to be constantly on your guard.

When you play Fallout, do you choose polite dialogue options? Do you hide behind the cover of technology, because after all, NPCs in games have no feelings?

Would you miss the old civilization? Would you try to save it, or would you be in favor of throwing it all into the great abyss and starting over?

How does a person change when all he can be sure of is radioactive fallout and that the next day will also be hard?

The nuclear wasteland is not so empty after all

After all, at every turn we can find traces of other tribes, gangs and civilizations. The art of getting along among people is hard even in our time! Although during the total annihilation, people share several common goals. And surviving in a group seems to be much, much easier.

Is the Nomad life enough for you?

Steaming sand sifts between your fingers. For dozens of hours, the only liquid your lips have been able to enjoy is the blood trickling from the corners of your mouth.

Do you find yourself in a noisy crowd, waiting for Immortal Joe to bestow at least a drop of water from his supply?

How is the world of Mad Max treating you? Do you roam the wilderness with other warriors? Are you in the shadow of Furiosa?

Or do you sit all alone, praying to survive another day? You ponder what ifs, begging in your soul for reincarnation to exist, for you to get a second chance.

In such a world, it's easy to have a sense of injustice. And a deep-rooted sense of guilt. A longing for what used to be, which we did not fully appreciate.

While we cannot be held responsible for the sins of others, we can still be held responsible for the sins of the entire species.

Are nukes capable of destroying your zest for life? Or can they inflame it even more strongly?

What kind of world are you living in? In what way will it end?

Feel free to answer in the comments. What other post-apocalyptic games or books do you know?

What do you think is a total classic? Look forward to the next posts on our blog, something mega interesting is coming up ;)
